Jada Toys Dub City 2001 Chevy Avalanche

| Hi all, 20 Inches Strong. That's the tag line at DUB Magazine, a magazine dedicated to the hottest trend in automotive, tuners and street trucks. And Jada Toys is taking full advantage of the trend. Introducing the DUB City line of Street Trucks. This review is of the 2001 Chevy Avalanche. The other trucks in the series include a 2000 Chevy S-10, 2000 Chevy Suburban, 2001 Chevy Astro Van, and a 2002 Cadillac Escalade.
|
| The overall look of the Avalanche is nice and low, with a monochrome paint scheme, sunroof, and it rides on those huge 20" rims that the folks at DUB City have helped to make popular. The truck lacks a steerable front end, with is common in most 1/24th scale cars, but it more than makes up for that lack with some pretty nifty features. Read on. | ||
| The interior is all black, with the exception of the 4 spoke chrome steering wheel. That was a smart addition by Jada, since the one-color interior is a litlte bit boring. But the molded in texture of the seats and the dashboard details do look very nice. The interior door panel features include nice touches like safety lights and armrests/pull handles. | ![]() |

Under the hood you'll find a heavily chromed engine. In fact, if it wasn't for the black radiator fan shroud, the whole compartment would be chrome. Looks very much like a couple of trucks I've seen on the show circuit.

The real beauty of this diecast is in the rear. Lots of features to talk about back here. It comes with a removable tonneau cover and flip down tailgate. The monochrome paint scheme is carried over to the rear bumper, and the mandatory DUB City tampos are clearly evident. In fact, this truck has "DUB" on it in 5 places. You won't forget who sponsors this line, LOL!
| With the cover removed, and the tailgate down, you can see that the bed is very detailed, with tie down hooks, load runners, the works. Initially, I was a little disappointed with the tonneau cover, since it just sits on the bed. I thought it would have been better to hinge it and make it a flip up cover. I discarded that thought when I found the lever. Lever, you ask? Read on..... | ![]() |

Notice that lever under the rear window? Well, that's one of two levers on this truck. This one on the wall below the window is a slider that allows you to lower to rear window. Nice touch!! Oh yeah, I mentioned a second lever....

I'm sure you've all seen those Chevy Avalanche "Change for a Dollar?" commercials. Well, the Jada Toys folks have seen them as well. Once you lower the rear window, you can slide another lever, which is on the chassis, and lower the whole rear wall to convert this from a SUV to a Pickup. Cool!!!!
