Greenlight Collectibles Indy Car Series |
||
| Every collecting genre has been heavily covered in recent years, except one. Small scale Indy Racing League cars of quality are hard to come by. The folks at Greenlight Collectibles have filled that niche with their new 1:64th scale Indy Car Series. Ten collector quality cars representing the best of the IRL drivers and teams. Each car is packaged in a clamshell protector, complete with a collector card depicting the drivers face and race team on the front, driver statistics and a short biography on the back. | ||

| The cars ride on rubber Firestone Firehawk tires wrapped around either chrome or black rims, depending on the team. The cars have a great racing stance. They are very low, almost ground rubbing low. Indy Racing League rules stipulate that the ride height of the sides of a car should be 2 inches off the ground for all tracks. I think the folks at Greenlight have captured that to scale. I just learned that ride height information today when I was researching for this article. | What stands out more than the stance and shape is the striking paintwork. All the cars are multicolored, which can't be an easy process. Tampos depicting the team and major and minor sponsors are crisp and clean. Some are so small that you almost need a magnifying glass to see, but they are readable. You can also see the multipiece body structure very clearly on the Pennzoil car below. All 10 cars have that level of detail. | ||

| Each car is individually serial numbered. The cars are held together with three rivets, the third exclusively for the rear wing post. They have a solid feel and roll nicely. The chassis on each is unpainted and unpolished. | ||

Check them out here: www.greenlighttoys.com It's customary for the Indianapolis 500 winner to drink milk in lieu of champagne. I believe the folks at Greenlight Collectibles have earned their milk. --Joe |
