Jada Street Low Lowrider Series 1960 Chevy Impala
|
Hi all, The more I see of the Jada line, the more I like them. I own a number of the DUB City 1/64th scale cars, and a couple of the 1/64th Street Low line. But this 1/24th 1960 Chevy Impala is a real beauty, worthy of a closer look. There's just too much to this car to miss an opportunity to show off some of the features. Enjoy!! Right off the bat, you can see that it has a near perfect lowrider stance. But that stance is just the beginning. There's an awful lot of detail packed into this 1/24th model. |

There's so much chrome under the hood that it almost acts like a mirror. Interesting too, is the lack of a built racing motor that is common in most diecast cars. The folks at Jada opted for a straight six. Good idea, since these cars aren't designed to race, but rather to cruise......

Black and white interior, chrome steering wheel (correct Impala wheel, by the way) and a black molded dash panel work very well with the shiny black exterior. One addition I would have liked to see was a contrasting color or decals for the gauges and radio. The all black panel would look better with some highlights. |

These rims are gorgeous. Not only because they have the required spinners, but because they are actually spokes. Held up to the light, you can see through each and every one of them. I would love to see someone figure out a way to do a rim like that in 1/64th. |

Fuzzy dice. A standard on the boulevard cruisers. On this car, they aren't molded to any other part, they are attached with a small wire, so you can pose the numbers. Pretty cool.... Remember when stereo meant a speaker in the dash, and one in between the back seats? |

Another staple of the period was dual radio antennae. The duals on this car do lot to set off the huge expanse of black on the long flat trunk. I held my finger over them to imagine the car without them, and I didn't like the look. Too much dark paint without them. |

I've always been a fan of the Chevy rocket logo and dual checkered flags. Just one more example of the detail that went into this model. The convertible boot is is a perfect fit, and has a few molded in details for realism.

The rear is just as cool as the front. Ok, maybe cooler. That Continental Kit is the perfect finishing touch to this car. One neat feature about that spare. If you look at it from the front side, you'll see that there is actually a spare tire in there!! |

I like the convertibles, but for you hardtop guys, this model is available as a hardtop as well. There's also 4 color choices, black, red, blue, and silver. There's no doubt that Jada has made their mark on the diecast world. And if they keep cranking out cars like this, that mark will undoubtedly grow, and will be with us for a long time to come. |
