| There's a tuff new batch of muscle cars on the block. Presenting the brand new line from Greenlight, Muscle Car Garage. This initial release showcase's six classic street burners in a style that is sure to please even the most discriminating muscle car collector. Let's take a closer look. | |||||||||||

Right from the start you can see the perfect detailing, from chrome accents that defined the cars of the 60's and 70's, to the red stripe tires, to the rally rims so familiar to all gearheads. The overall paint on these cars is thick and smooth, but not so thick as to wash out body lines.
| Speaking of tires, Greenlight has sprinkled three types among the castings--the familiar red stripe, BFGoodrich Radial T/A's, and a tire rarely (if ever) seen on a 1/64th car--Goodyear Wingfoot HP's. Nicely done. And although the Impala sports Rally wheels, the Mustangs and GTO's are treated to custom rims. The axles on these cars aren't crimped to the chassis--the left/right rims roll as a unit. | |||||||||||

When I first saw preview pictures of these cars I was reminded of the two piece wheels used by Johnny Lightning (the base rim with interchangeable caps to give new styles). Greenlight, however, has chosen to cast the rims as a single unit, very thick at that. Intersting too is the fact that the slots don't go all the way through. Gives a nice 3D look to them. |

Of course, as we've all come to expect from higher end collectibles, each car features a multi-colored engine under the opening hood. And although it's not easy to see in this picture, the engines have depth--they aren't just cast outlines on top the zamac plate. They are cast pieces that fit nicely between well defined wheel wells.
|
|
Not only opening hoods, but one car does feature a real OHS, or open hood scoop. Another nice detail.
| Although monochrome, the interiors are very detailed. Each car features a correct layout in a complimentary color. Perhaps series 2 will bring a little color to this part of the cars as well. |
|
||||||||||
| Here's a couple of pictures that show off more of those exterior details. Paintwork and details like this are generally reserved for collectible cars in an even higher price bracket than the approximate $5.00 each that these cars cost. | |||||||||||

| The packaging includes a card that depicts the real car, in colors to match the diecast. The cars come with a clear plastic stand which has a license plate sticker that matches that on the cars. Below is a shot of the six stands/plates/cars. New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Oregon, North Carolina, and Alabama are represented. And I'm not complaining that Texas is featured on my favorite car in the batch--that gorgeous Impala. | |||||||||||

| The Muscle Car Garage line does not
disappoint. The cars are finely detailed representations of cars that
defined an era. Available right now at your favorite online dealer (not
available in stores at this time). And remember, they are limited to 2500
pieces and there's that 1 in 4 chance at getting your hands on the very
limited Green Machines. Thanks to the fine folks at
Greenlight
Collectibles for sending me
this sample set to review. I'm already looking forward to Series 2.
