Muscle Machines Universal Studios Monster Trucks

Trucks. Tall, short, long bed, short bed, style side, fleet side, flare side, regular cab, extra cab, two door, three door, four door, you name it, there's a truck for everyone. But it takes a few tweaks to turn that stylish boulevard cruiser or family farm workhorse into a Monster Truck!! And the folks at Funline have done an outstanding job creating a line of new Monster Trucks. Introducing the Muscle Machines Universal Studios Monster Trucks. Big, tall, beefy, with a few trick items that I'll highlight for you below.

What grabs you when you're out diecast shopping? Or clothes shopping for that matter? Well, for me, it's color. Good paint draws the eye to the pegs, and causes the involuntary movement of raising your arm to pull down the package and take a closer look. And these trucks all have that type of eye catching appeal.

Sharp, crisp graphics on bright base colors are the very first thing you see. But if you look a little deeper, you'll see that the major components that make a Monster Truck a monster are highlighted as well. Quad shocks, ladder bar frames, roll cages, and enough headlight and taillight paint to make even the pickiest collector happy. One other item of note is the tires. Have you ever seen any as shiny? Must have mixed a little Armor All in the cooker. But paint and highlights alone don't make a monster............
For serious car crushing, drag racing, and berm jumping, you need serious springs. And these trucks deliver. Each wheel has it own spring, the first true scale independent suspension. Nice!! Oh, you don't want to go in straight lines only? Ok, Funilne covered that as well......
Another first, as far as I can tell. Front and rear steering that works in unison!! A little tie rod connects each axle, so when you turn one end, the other follows in the opposite direction. Slick!! The only limitation, and it's really not a limitation at all, is that you can't "crab" turn the wheels. But I gotta tell you, steering like this will make for some awesome displays!

Did I forget to mention that there are a few other hidden niceties on these? Like big chrome motors and cooling systems hidden under removable tonneau covers and wings? If you put one up to your ear, you can almost hear the rumble of 1500 horses ready to cut loose in the arena or at the fairgrounds!

So you want tall? Ok, then these trucks deliver in that department as well. They dwarf all other 1/64th scale vehicles. And viewed from the proper angle, they look even taller and more aggressive. And in this case, tall doesn't mean unstable. The track is very wide, and the fat meats on all four corners make for a pretty smooth rolling truck that stays on it's feet, even on carpet!!
What self-respecting Monster Truck article doesn't include at least one picture of a truck climbing on a car? Bet you never thought I'd stick a 57 Chevy under one......

Great paint, independent suspension, trick steering, what else could you want? These trucks do a nice job of representing Chevy, Ford and Dodge. Not only are Monster Truck staples such as Bigfoot, Bearfoot, Carolina Crusher and The RAMinator represented, but the rest have slick graphics depicting some of our favorite Universal Studios movies.
