My First Convention

The 2003 Hot Wheels Nationals in Cincinnati were the first for me. I hope to relay my experience to you in this take on.

I was excited at the chance to meet people that I've gotten to know pretty good from the past 3 years I've been on the internet. You can never truly get to know someone until you meet them in person. This thing called the computer lacks a human personality that can only be experienced in person.

Everyone that I've chatted with or posted with were the best. It was just like talking to a relative you haven't seen for a while. When I went room to room shopping, people greeted you with a hearty hello and some small talk.

Some of the event lines were long but you have to have patience for something of this size. I believe Mattel did a pretty good job co- sponsoring the Nationals. The who's who that was there were very polite and willing to help. Saturday was really packed with things to do. We had a tough time finding the time to do everything. That is one of the things they should change, maybe spread out the events a little more.

Oh yeah, take a lot of cash or trading fodder if you do the room to room. I saw so much stuff I wanted I could not believe it. Some things were priced a little high but I also saw some real good deals. I really was bummed to have to say goodbye to everyone Saturday night. I really wished we had more time.

So with that thought if you do plan to attend one in the future, make sure you make the most of you time. You will not regret it one bit, I promise.

Till next time.
